One of the ideas that provided a hopeful tinge to the conclusion of the book, which for a major portion was a sobering look at America's history of racism, was the assertion in the epilogue that an antiracist America is not a zero sum game. Specifically, I see this as Mr. Kendi asserting that, in basic terms, a win for Black people is not a loss for white people; that a society that seeks to right previous wrongs done to the Black community is a society that benefits the vast majority of people within that society. Whether or not one agrees with certain instances of affirmative action, to pose one example, a more positive look at initiatives will move society toward progress instead of regression; a Black person (or a member of a community that has been historically oppressed) having a seat at the table is not them having a seat OVER a White person (or a member of the relevant supposed-hegemonic people group in a population), but instead it is them being equal at the table regardless of race.
