It’s Incredibly important for lawyers to understand Tupac’s life experiences which are highlighted in his poetry. Tupac’s experiences mirror those of many young black men, a group that is most likely to be negatively impacted by the criminal justice system and who arguably are the most misunderstood and villainized group. Tupac’s poetry offers attorneys the opportunity to hear not only about the socioeconomic disadvantage that black men face but also the loneliness and mental health issues that they face in a world that wasn’t built for them and that certainly makes that known. Poetry also gives attorneys a creative medium through which they may hear from a group that they haven't listened to before and look past their own biases.
